Tim Aalders Crushes Fundraising Numbers to Challenge John Curtis
Has almost $600,000 more than next challenger in race
Highland, UT – Conservative Republican Tim Aalders, candidate for Congress in Utah’s Third Congressional District, revealed in filings with the Federal Election Commission pre-convention report that he raised over $676,000, and had just over $607,000 cash on hand to challenge incumbent John Curtis in the June 28 primary. Curtis’s reports showed he had $772,000 cash on hand, and in a very distant third was Jason Preston who showed just under $18,000 on hand.
Aalders stated, “Challenging an incumbent is tough, and you have to be able to go toe to toe financially in order to win. While I hope that the delegates at the Utah Republican Convention hear what I have to say and choose me as the Republican nominee for the Third Congressional District, history shows that the battle may not be over after the April 23 event. It may not be decided until the June 28 primary. If that were to happen these numbers show that my team will be the only campaign that will have the resources to successfully take on the incumbent in the primary.”
Aalders continued, “Campaigns are about winning. If the conservatives in the Republican Party want to change the direction of Washington DC they need to elect conservative members of Congress. But you can’t just be conservative and expect to win. You have to have a team with the resources to make that happen. I want to thank all of those that have supported me in the last month since I declared for this race for their support, and I will work hard to convince them that if they want to win on June 28 that I will need their vote at the Utah Republican Convention on April 23.”
